Boxing Club Donation

16th November 2016

We want to thank Geoff and his team at Barrow Amateur Boxing Club for the wonderful donation of £1500! We are so grateful for the support and all donations will go to supporting people with autism and their families in the local area!

We offer a programme of activites for young people with ASC every Easter, summer and Christmas holiday. These activities are staffed by professionals and autism-trained volunteers so parents and carers can have a well-deserved break! Details of up coming activities are published on our facebook page www.facebook.com/autuscumbria.

During summer 2017 we are running programme of activities.

Each session is around 2 hours in length at a cost of £10 per session. The sessions are usually held either at Church Walk Parish Rooms in Ulverston or at Greengate Children's Centre in Barrow.

To book a place, please contact Suzanne on info@autuscumbria.co.uk. Places are limited so book soon to avoid disappointment. All sessions are £10 and fully staffed so parents and carers do not need to stay.

If your young person has not attended an Autus session before, please let Suzanne know and we will arrange for Jemma Swales, our autism practitioner to contact you prior to the group to discuss any needs your young person has.

Payment for the Autus holiday sessions is expected at the time of booking or when children are dropped off. If you do need to cancel your child's attendance at a session please let us know as soon as possible. Occasionally when places have been cancelled at short notice we have ended up with more staff than children. Many of our staff are volunteers and we value their time and try to ensure we only ask them to come along if they are needed.

Disability Living Allowance can be used to contribute to the cost if you receive it, however using Direct Payments is not permitted. This is because Cumbria County Counil contribute the majority of the funds needed for Autus to run the sessions, the remaining cost is meant to be met by the families. Using Direct Payments to pay the parent contribution would therefore be double funding. We have also been advised that having a direct payment worker stay at the sessions may be considered double funding and should be avoided.
